Career - Molecular biology
Molecular biology includes the study of the molecular structure as well as the function of DNA, RNA, protein and other molecules associated with the genetic basis of cellular function. In a Bachelor degree, molecular biology is often studied alongside highly related subjects including cell biology and biochemistry. A knowledge of molecular biology provides a solid foundation for advanced studies in genetics, biotechnology, cancer, stem cell biology and more. For those considering a career in research, higher degree studies (Honours, Masters or PhD) are usually required. Those with an undergraduate background in molecular biology should possess relevant knowledge and skills applicable to just about any project area of higher degree study desired.
