Advertise on BioscienceCentral bioscience banner advertising

NOTICE

The BioscienceCentral website was launched in 2016 with all banner positions displaying BioscienceCentral internal links. BioscienceCentral is now taking expressions of interest from external advertisers to fill these positions in 2019. BioscienceCentral will be pleased to offer the first external advertisers exceptionally low prices.

Fees

BioscienceCentral charges upfront fees for banner advertising. Prices vary depending on the banner types and duration.

Hyperlinking

All banner advertisements can be hyperlinked to an external website of the advertiser's choice.

Acceptable advertisements

BioscienceCentral only displays advertisements associated with the biosciences.

Advertisements may be related to products, services, research, information, consulting, promotion, education, governance, funding, charity, events and more. Advertisements may include specials or bonuses, but no advertisements involving competitions and prizes will be accepted as BioscienceCentral is unable to verify the integrity of these advertisements.

Banner types / positions:

- bottom page banners positioned at the bottom of the scrolled page
- vertical banners positioned on the right side of the page
- horizontal banners in fixed position at the bottom of the screen

Bottom page banners

Advertisements placed in the two bottom page banner positions will be mirrored / displayed on all web pages throughout the entire BioscienceCentral website.

Vertical banners

There are five vertical banner positions. Advertisements placed in these positions will be mirrored / displayed on all web pages associated with the 27 resources that are linked off the menu midway down the BioscienceCentral homepage. These resources include:

Horizontal banners

There are seven horizontal banner positions. Advertisements placed in these positions will be mirrored / displayed on all web pages throughout the entire BioscienceCentral website.

Advertising duration and start / finish times

Banner advertising contracts are set in 2 month blocks (e.g. January-February), with advertisements posted on the BioscienceCentral website by 8:30am on the first day of the first month and finishing at 5:30pm on the final day of the last month. Times are based on Los Angeles, California, United States. You can use the timeanddate.com time converter to compare these start / finish times with the time where you are based.

At the end of your advertising contract, BioscienceCentral may temporarily retain any of your advertisements on the website (free of charge) for an undefined period of time until the next advertiser commences. By choosing to advertise with BioscienceCentral, you grant BioscienceCentral this permission. BioscienceCentral will take care not to retain advertisements that include specials no longer valid or events that have passed. BioscienceCentral hopes you consider this possibility to be of mutual benefit. If such action causes you any problems please contact BioscienceCentral customer service.

New advertisements procedure

When you submit the online form to express your interest for banner advertising, you will be asked to select the banner types and 2 month blocks you are interested in. BioscienceCentral will then inform you as to which of your banner advertising interests are available providing you with obligation-free quotes for each. Please note, banner positions will not be reserved at this stage so if you would like to proceed after receiving your quotes, it is advised that you reply quickly. If you inform BioscienceCentral that you wish to proceed, BioscienceCentral will reserve the positions for you to allow you to make payment. BioscienceCentral will email you an invoice for which payment must be made within 3 business days. If payment is not made by the due date specified on the invoice, BioscienceCentral may offer the reserved banner positions to other advertisers. Your understanding is appreciated. Once payment has been received BioscienceCentral will contact you via email regarding the images and hyperlinks you would like to use.

Important

To ensure images are posted on time, your images must be emailed to BioscienceCentral at least 48 hours prior to the date your images are scheduled for posting on the website. When selecting a specific block, please make sure you will be able to prepare your banner advertising images and submit them to BioscienceCentral on time. If images are submitted late, any portion of your advertising duration that passes will be at your loss.

Images must be submitted in the correct format (jpeg) with the correct dimensions (pixel height & width) before they will be posted. Any portion of your advertising duration that passes whilst BioscienceCentral waits for you to re-submit images will be at your loss.

Please ensure your advertisements are bioscience associated as described under "Acceptable advertisements" above. Any portion of your advertising duration that passes whilst BioscienceCentral waits for you to re-submit acceptable advertisements will be at your loss.

When you submit images you warrant that you have all of the necessary rights, including copyright, that your content is not dishonest and that it does not infringe any law. You indemnify BioscienceCentral against any and all legal fees, damages and other expenses that may be incurred by BioscienceCentral as a result of a breach of this warranty.

Banner advertising renewal / contract extension

If you would like to extend the duration of your current banner positions for additional 2 month blocks, it is recommended that you inform BioscienceCentral as early as possible as other advertisers may be considering the same banner positions. To do so, you must submit the original online form to register your interest for banner advertising. You will have the option to continue with your existing images or submit new images. Besides extending your current banner positions, the form will allow you to inform BioscienceCentral if you are also interested in any additional / new banner positions. After you submit the online form, BioscienceCentral will send you obligation-free quotes for any banner positions you have selected that are available.

Paying BioscienceCentral - BioscienceCentral and PayPal

BioscienceCentral has selected PayPal to facilitate payments as PayPal is internationally recognised for its security and speed. If you don't have a PayPal account you can simply pay via PayPal using your credit or debit card. When paying through PayPal using your credit or debit card, your card details are not revealed to BioscienceCentral.

PayPal online invoicing

BioscienceCentral uses PayPal online invoicing as this provides a quick and easy method for our customers to make payments. PayPal invoices will be sent to you via email. Once you have checked that the details on the invoice are correct and you are satisfied with the payment amount, simply click the pay button on the invoice. As mentioned above, you can pay using a PayPal account, credit card or debit card. After paying you can electronically save or print the PayPal receipt for your records. After receiving payment, BioscienceCentral will also email you a tax invoice / receipt (in PDF format) which you can also save or print for your records.

Via PayPal, BioscienceCentral accepts payments in 22 currencies. When you use the online form to express your interest for banner advertising you will be asked to select one of these currencies to receive your quotes. Currencies include:

If your currency is not included on the PayPal list shown above, BioscienceCentral will require that you pay in any of the 22 currencies listed. When you use the online form to express your interest for banner advertising you will be asked to select one of these 22 currencies to receive your quotes. Please note, when making payment, you accept that the currency conversion from your currency to the currency you have selected will be subject to the foreign exchange rate on the day payment is made, and a currency conversion fee. Please note that BioscienceCentral is unable to inform you of the exact cost you will incur for the currency conversion as the foreign exchange rate varies from day to day. When paying via PayPal with a credit or debit card, you will have the option to select either PayPal or your card provider to process the currency conversion. (PayPal may be selected by default). PayPal processes the currency conversion using the prevailing wholesale exchange rate plus a percentage currency conversion fee retained by PayPal. If you allow PayPal to process the currency conversion, your total bill will be displayed for your viewing as you are progressing through the payment process. If you are not satisfied with the total bill price you may abort rather than completing the transaction. If you choose your credit or debit card provider to process your currency conversion you will not see the conversion fee that you have been charged until you see your credit/debit card statement at a later date. (For American Express cards there may be no choice for selecting who will process the currency conversion. American Express may take care of this conversion).

Once you receive your quote in the currency you select, you may follow the steps below using the Oanda currency converter to compare the quote price against your normal currency. This estimate will allow you to determine if you feel you are being offered an acceptable price.

Step 2. Using the Oanda currency converter select the currency for the quote under the heading "Currency I Have", then enter the quote amount.
Step 3. Select your normal currency under "Currency I Want".

Pay in Australian dollars (AUD) and receive a 5% fee reduction

BioscienceCentral appreciates that you have chosen to advertise with us and apologises that we are unable to receive payment in your currency. If you select to pay in Australian dollars (AUD), BioscienceCentral will reduce the AUD fee by 5% to assist you with the costs of currency conversion. Please be aware that BioscienceCentral is not claiming that this 5% reduction in fees will be exactly equal to your costs for currency conversion. As mentioned above, BioscienceCentral is unable to determine the exact cost you will incur for the currency conversion.

To receive the 5% AUD fee reduction, select Australian dollar when you are completing the online form to Register Your Interest For Banner Advertising. BioscienceCentral will then use your company / entity details, including telephone number, email address and country to confirm you are not based in Australia. After determining that the Australian dollar is not your normal currency, BioscienceCentral will then send you a quote / invoice in AUD. The 5% fee reduction will be included in the price though it won’t be directly mentioned on the invoice.

Refunds Policy

BioscienceCentral may provide a refund if we fail to post your banner advertisement for the agreed contract duration. If a refund is applicable, BioscienceCentral will only refund an amount equivalent to the portion of the contract that was not, or has not been utilised. There is no refund option if you simply decide you no longer want the service after you have paid. No refund option will be available if the reason we have failed to post your advertisement for the agreed duration is out of our control due to extreme rare events such as a natural disaster, the outbreak of war, etc. It is BioscienceCentral's goal to provide a reliable service. Providing a reliable service is important for BioscienceCentral to maintain an excellent international reputation. If you have any problems after your advertising contract has commenced please contact BioscienceCentral customer service.
